Peace of mind starts with a plan
What is The Legacy Expert?
It’s a resource dedicated to helping people understand later life planning. You’ll find articles answering questions about everything from wills and being an executor, to funerals and care homes.
You can find our contents page here. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, head over to our Ask a Question page to send us a message.
What inspired you to create The Legacy Expert?
The Legacy Expert provides information about later life planning, but the idea started at the opposite end of life – in a maternity ward!
My twin boys had been born hours before. While my young family rested, I watched as hard-working NHS staff ran around the ward. I was envious: they had dedicated their lives to helping others. That’s what I wanted too.
Having worked in Over-50s financial services for several years, I realised that my expertise and interest in later life planning could be used to support families through difficult times. Within 3 years of the idea, after a lot of research and planning, I left my corporate career and launched The Legacy Expert.
Do you respond to every question you receive?
Although I can’t guarantee it, I try to respond to most queries received through the Ask a Question page.
Do you offer guidance for people supporting aging parents?
Of course! You will find content across this website aimed at people with older family members.
Do you have any tips for people who are new to later life planning?
My first tip is always the same: start now! No matter how old you are or how prepared you feel, it is never too early (or too late) to start planning for later life. Reading the articles on this website is a great start: try our Top Tips articles if you’re not sure where to begin.
My second tip is something many people overlook: start a conversation today. If you are planning for yourself, simply talk to your children or wider family. Don’t be afraid that they will feel awkward – they’re more likely to be grateful.
If you are supporting an older relative, engage them gently and bring them into the process of making decisions. Later life planning can seem overwhelming, but remember our motto at The Legacy Expert: peace of mind starts with a plan.
How often is the information on the website updated?
The website is updated constantly, though we tend not to go back and directly edit the content of old articles. If key information in an old article changes in a way we believe is important to highlight, we add a dated amendment and point readers in the direction of more up-to-date articles on the subject.
Is there a Legacy Expert magazine or booklet available?
Not yet, but there is a booklet in production. If you’d like to be notified when it’s available, you can register your interest using this form.
Do you use AI to write your articles?
We have a strict policy forbidding the use of AI to generate article content for The Legacy Expert. We believe in the value of human research and knowledge, and the importance of real connection. At present, AI is used only for planning and fact-checking purposes.
Do you offer personal consultations?
I will be offering a limited number of one-to-one consultations in the near future. If you are interested, please let me know by filling out this form.
